Northwest Territories

The management of drinking water is the responsibility of the Government of the Northwest Territories. The federal department: Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) is responsible for managing the other water resources.

The Northwest Territories Department of Environment and Natural Resources Water page provides information on water quality, water strategies and the various water boards responsible for water resources in the different areas of the Territories.

The mandate and responsibilities of the federal AANDC is described on the department's Water Management page.

Further information and discussion on Northwest Territories' water management, legislation, policies and licensing process can be found on the Northwest Territories Water Policy Data page of The Living Water Policy Project website.
