Nunavut
The
federal government through Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada
(AANDC) has overarching responsibility for management of water resources in Nunavut as described on the department's
Water Management and
Water Resources pages.
The
Nunavut Water Board
has responsibilities for regulation, use and management of inland
waters in Nunavut and is the agency that is primarily responsible for
water allocation. The Board has no enforcement powers; enforcement and
compliance are the responsibility of AANDC. A description of the
licensing process is provided on the Board's
Licence Application page.
